From the Polls

By: BJ Lawson

If you haven’t voted yet, this is the day!

An informal survey of mostly-Republican polling places suggests that turnout is light - one precinct in Raleigh that’s about equally matched between Democrats and Republicans had 600 voters by lunchtime, as opposed to a more typical 1,200. How much of that is low turnout versus early voting? We will see. Just make sure your vote is counted!

Also, I was informed that a supporter has created a grassroots Web site, with a fantastic introductory video:

… see you tonight at the Chop House Grille!

I rode around a few times today on my bike and checked out a couple of polling stations. Turnout was indeed light in north Raleigh. No lines to be seen. I voted at lunch time, intentionally, hoping to see large crowds and get a feel for what people were talking about. I was outnumbered by volunteers who had little to do but wait.

One person went in ahead of me and two after me.

When I went by at 4:30 and there was a little more activity, but still less than a dozen voters. I’m going to try again closer to closing time.

My other big disappointment today is that I don’t live in your district so I didn’t have the opportunity to vote for you. But I have been talking to friends, family, and co-workers in your district so hopefully they pulled through.

6:10PM, you’d think it would be prime time for people that are out of work now and eager to be heard.

Six voters at my polling station. No line. Lots of available parking.

Less than 800 people voted at my precinct today…not sure how my republicans.

Way to go BJ!!! You’ve soundly defeated the phony conservative Cho! I can just hear party hacks wailing and moaning at the erosion of the neocon platform.

Now it’s time to really hit the trenches!

Congratulations on your landslide victory, BJ!

It was good to finally meet you in person, too, and your lovely family. I think your mother-in-law is your biggest supporter. She introduced herself after your victory speech and was just so proud of you.

For anyone else that was there, yes, I was the big ugly dude in the yellow power ranger jacket with the mohawk, nose ring, and tattoos. Do I know how to blend into a room full of Republicans or what? :D

The real fun begins now. Let’s send David Price to see what the job market is like these days.
